2008 3rd Place Apostle Island 8 Dog Pro

This was a very challenging race this weekend for the dogs and we are proud of them. 7 of 8 ran the Beargrease 150 just less than a week before and a bug started to rear it's ugly head on a couple more in this team during the race. But, on the positive side, the dogs stayed focus and kept a good work ethic.

Hurricane was a bit off on the second day. Loss of appetite on the day before but still work honestly.

Pedigree
Martin was his usual self. Big help most of the time on the hills. A bit sluggish on the faster stretches.
... Theoden-2004 (M) (L)
Pedigree
Theo ran the first day only. He had a slight strain in his right tricep so he sat out on the second day. He was missed on that second day. He is a very steady, hard driving, tough dog.

Legolas ran lead on the first day, for a great show. Ran lead for all but maybe the last 5 miles on the second day. Was settling in a bit too much into a trot on the second day so I switched him out with Strider. That's another story.

Strider was on the rebound from Beargrease. He ran in team and struggled towards the end of the first day, no neck lining though. Decided to keep him in team, to give him a break, on the second day and he was on fire. Eventually put him in lead with about 5 miles to go on the second day which helped us hang onto 3rd place in my own opinion. A team that was running with me commented that whatever I did when I stopped definately worked because we pulled away from him with no problem.
