2006 1st Place Midnight Run 8 Dog Pro

This year the MR consisted of about a 50 mile first leg and about a 45 mile second leg with a mandatory 5 hour plus differential in between. All teams gained an additional 3 hours of rest mandated by the race for severe weather conditions to subside at the finish in Wetmore. Sharon ran the 1st Team and had a great race maintaining the fastest times on both legs. Martin recovered from a minor front end strain from earlier in the season and was placed back on the team. Sharon had four 21 month olds, two 3 year olds, one 4 year old and a 7 year old. Strider (21 month old) ran 10 miles of the first leg and the whole second leg in lead with no problem.

What can I say. Check out her race record for this year. Last year was just as impressive. Hurricane is a special dog. She is now residing in Minnesota to be bred to Caeser (Swingley) at Don and August Galloway's Kennel. This will be a repeat breeding. She is the mother of Strider, Elrond, Theo, Gimli, and Legolas, all of which raced with either Sharon or Pete. We just have to try again.

Martin had been a bit "off" for awhile. He returned back to his old self after Bayfield. Sharon trained him for the last two weeks and said he's gotta go to the Midnight Run with her. He's a two time MR champ.

Sharon said Wooly was smoking in lead on the first run, even with Hurricane coming into heat. She said he was becoming a bit more interested in her in the last part of the first leg so she pulled him from lead. He ran point the balance of the race and did just awesome next to Elrond.
