2006 3rd Place Rainbow Lodge Open Class

MUSH Club calls this a Mid Distance race. It was supposed to be a 12 mile track but rumor has it that a GPS showed a 10.5 mile track. I'm going with the shorter distance. We ran 11 dogs and had a great time. First day ran to a 4th place finish. Second day ran to a 2nd place finish 10 seconds off of fastest time of the day. We shaved about 4 minutes off our time from the first day. Placed third overall. 21 miles with a total time of 1:13:03. The dogs did exceptional with a few pleasant surprises showing up. Hurricane sat this one out as she is out getting bred. Ricky ran two days in lead. Strider also ran the first day in lead and Elrond ran the second day in lead. We ran 7 yearlings (22 mos) on this team. All performed great.

Theo is such a trooper. A bit thicker boned than his brothers but every bit as athletic. No problems for him on either day.

Legolas had a great first day. Switched sides for the second day and he appeared a little uncomfortable until he found his gait and right lead. After that no problems. Loves to move out.

Elrond continually impresses me. Ran point on the first day and lead on the second. Led out real nice with no hesitations and lots of confidence.

Gimli appeared hesitant on the first day. On the second day he was all out. No hesitation at all. A very courageous dog.
