9th Place Results 8 Dogs, ~120 miles, checkpoints at 10, 36, 39, and 35 miles, 8 hrs mandatory rest + 1 hr time diff Race highlights * We had a good showing in my first Beargrease against some of the best 8 dog racers in the world thanks to my awesome dogs and handling by my friend Linda and my dad Larry. * All 8 dogs finished the race. Half the dogs have sore feet and a few have minor wrist or shoulder soreness due to the hard trail, constant hills and speed needed to stay competitive. * Merlin really stepped up leading his first major race running along with Kryptonite. He again proved himself to be an extremely reliable dog running, eating, drinking, and resting like a pro. * Due to trouble acquiring enough dog food for my midwest trip, I switched to Red Paw a week before the race. I fed strait Red Paw soaked with water and trail snacks of chicken drumsticks de-boned by Linda. My dogs have never had such a good appetite while traveling or been so hydrated during a race. I think I might be sold on this food.
