Commander was one of the best leaders of all time in the kennel. Extremely tough and diverse in his ability to win a 1000 miler or a 100 miler. At 2.5 he and sister Cindy helped Rick Mackey to place 2nd in the Yukon Quest, the following year they did the majority of the leading and won the Quest. Commander set an incredibly strong pace. He had perfect feet, attitude, and desire to eat. We continue to breed back to Commander. Purchased for $2500 at the age of 2 from Sue Firmin. Cindy and Commander were part of a litter split between DeeDee and Sue. Sue only had a handful of dogs and sold her best, but very young leaders to my dad, who had leased and raced their mother Dolly for many Iditarods. Dolly was a very prominent leader of her era.
