Salt is a natural born leader from the strongest leader line I've worked with, the well known "F" line litter comes in a close a second. She has been an invaluable race leader, mother dog, and swing dog for us. Salt shines when the going gets tough or when pouring on the speed. She gives everything she has; every run, every race, this trait has not bypassed her offspring. In her race career Salt has given us as close to perfect race performances as we could ask for. The race where we did not expect her to really shine, the Copper Basin 300, was strangely possibly her best. It was a tough slog with a few feet of fresh snow. and it was very punchy. This was a year for small dogs to excel whereas big dogs seem to be floundering more. She made it look easy. Funny enough she was a last minute extra we had not counted as being a key dog in training due to a previous injury. She'd had 2.5 weeks basically off and knocked out 80 mile runs at half our normal speed (took ages!) like a breeze. Salt has an incredible coat, tough feet, very high emotional intelligence, connects strongly with people and has superior endurance. The majority of Salt's pups have all led as yearlings as well and are leaders in kennels across AK, Europe, and the US. Salt is an excellent mother dog and enjoys spending time with pups from the mother dogs, too. https://mackeysdistancedogs.com/project/salt/
