Dakota is the oldest racer in our kennel. He has terrific lineage (out of Simba - father) & (Mike - maternal side Great Grandfather - Emil Inauen - Team Swiss) Still strong, fast. In fact, he is THE fastest dog in the kennel. Unfortunately, after 1 good run, he decided to stop part way into a race the next time out. Have to figure out what happened to him mentally & get him back at it.
Right now, he thinks he is a retired house dog.
UPDATE:
After many tries doing different things to get Dakota running again, finally gave him time off... like about a year. He rips & tears around the yard like crazy, but try to get him in front of a sled, he balks. Took him to the vet & she said it appeared he had a chronic groin injury from before i got him. So, he stays retired. Very sad. What a lovable guy he is. Would be happy with a family to just love him. He still likes to run on hikes though.
Our sweet Dakota passed on in 2014. He had cancer. He lived a good life w/ us and he deserved it. I called him Takoda, which means 'friend to everyone' in Sioux... & he was that. Loved all, esp kids. Great dog.
